About MTG Master

About MTG Master

MTG Master is an independent Commander-focused platform for Magic: The Gathering players, launched in November 2025. It helps players manage their collections, build and share decks, understand bracket and table fit, compare matchups, and see how their decks actually perform at the table.

The project started from a simple idea:

Magic players deserve tools that go deeper than a decklist.

MTG Master is designed for players who want more than storage, more than card search, and more than surface-level stats. It helps you understand the structure, strengths, weaknesses, pressure points, and real-game expectations behind your decks.

Why MTG Master Exists

Magic: The Gathering has become a deep, complex, and highly social game.

This is especially true in Commander, where a deck is rarely just a pile of good cards. It is shaped by many things:

  • Power level expectations
  • Bracket and table fit
  • Synergy and anti-synergy
  • Ramp, draw, removal, protection, and interaction balance
  • Budget and card availability
  • Local meta and table politics
  • Personal playstyle
  • Rule 0 conversations
  • The kind of games your group actually enjoys

Most deck tools are good at showing what cards are in a deck.

MTG Master is built to help explain how a deck works, why it performs the way it does, how it compares against other decks, and whether it fits the games you want to play.

The goal is not to replace creativity, experience, or personal taste. The goal is to support better decisions, clearer expectations, and more enjoyable games.

What MTG Master Does

MTG Master combines collection management, deckbuilding tools, playtesting features, card data, and structured Commander analysis in one place.

You can use it to:

  • Manage your card collection
  • Scan physical cards into your collection
  • Create, edit, and organize decks
  • Share decks publicly or privately
  • Track wishboards and future upgrades
  • Explore card prices and price history
  • Test opening hands and simulate deck behaviour
  • Review deck structure, consistency, and game plan
  • Analyze mana base, ramp, draw, removal, protection, threats, and win conditions
  • Detect combos, synergies, gaps, and meaningful upgrade paths
  • Check Commander bracket and table fit
  • Compare two Commander decks with matchup analysis
  • Understand structural matchup edges, pressure points, and practical adjustments
  • Build and improve decks with AI-assisted Commander tools
  • Use collection-aware recommendations based on cards you already own
  • Prepare for real Commander games, not just theoretical decklists

The platform is useful as a clean and reliable place to manage decks and collections, but it becomes more powerful when you want to go deeper into how a deck actually functions.

How MTG Master Is Different

MTG Master is not only a deck storage tool or a card database.

It focuses on Commander deck intelligence: how a deck is structured, whether it fits the intended table, how it performs against another deck, and which changes can make real games more balanced, consistent, and enjoyable.

Many tools help players build lists. MTG Master is built to help players understand those lists.

That means looking beyond individual card choices and considering the full deck context: commander, strategy, curve, mana, interaction, speed, resilience, win conditions, bracket expectations, collection constraints, matchup risks, and the kind of play experience the deck is likely to create.

Built Independently

MTG Master is a bootstrapped, fan-made project created by Marc Dalmau, a Magic player and software engineer.

It is built independently, without publishers, investors, or outside ownership shaping the product direction.

That matters.

MTG Master is not built around hype or generic AI output. It is a tool-first platform focused on real player needs, practical deckbuilding, Commander analysis, and long-term usefulness.

The platform evolves through actual use, player feedback, and continuous improvement.

Data and AI as Support, Not Authority

MTG Master uses structured data and AI where they genuinely help.

These tools are designed to:

  • Highlight patterns
  • Surface structural issues
  • Explain deck behaviour
  • Identify consistency risks
  • Compare matchup dynamics
  • Evaluate bracket and table fit
  • Suggest possible improvements
  • Make complex deck analysis easier to understand

They are not official rulings, guarantees, or absolute judgments.

Commander is contextual. A card that is perfect in one pod may be miserable in another. A deck that looks powerful on paper may struggle in a specific meta. A technically “optimal” upgrade may not match your budget, taste, or playgroup.

MTG Master is designed to support player judgment, not replace it.

Human context, table experience, and personal preference always matter.

Independent Fan-Made Project

Looking Forward

MTG Master is built around a few simple principles:

  • Accuracy over hype
  • Depth over shortcuts
  • Clarity over noise
  • Transparency over black-box behaviour
  • Practical usefulness over trends
  • Better games over bigger numbers

If you care about managing your collection, building stronger decks, understanding how they really work, comparing real matchups, and having better Commander games, MTG Master was built for you.
